    Posted: 18/Aug/2012 at 19:03
Hello, i'm new here but i have doubts in the machine i want. My previous PC lasted about 8 years so i am trying to buy a system that will last as long. As Window 8 is on the horizon, i guess it is a good time to start looking and saving.

1. My main concern is if i needed a Full Tower with all the stuffs i want (see below); i prefer a mini-Silent Tower if possible.
2. I want to use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB (same as my laptop), Asus Xonar Essence STX PCI-E Audiophile Sound Card & Happauge High Defination Satallite DVB-S2 TV Receiver, have i chosen the 'right' motherboard?
3. Is 240 GB Intel 520 Series too little, is it easy to just add another SSD in future (Hot-Swap)?
4. Is it wise to get a 3D-ready monitor & Microsoft Touch Mouse instead of the TouchScreen Monitor like
Acer T231H, for using MS OS8?

My budget is £2.5k-£3k. Thanks. Sorry if my questions are silly as i usually buy 'ready made' pc from major brands.

For a PC to last ten years you'll be upgrading the graphics a couple of times to keep up. Imagine playing BF3 on a P3 and a first gen Radeon 64mb. So realistically it'll last but may not be capable of running new games after a few years.

1: the Antec 280 is a good case for your chosen components.

2: Should be fine just check if the TV card is PCI or not.

3: For hot swaps look at the Corsair 650D case

4: for gaming 3D / 120Hz screens are great Win8 doesn't need touch to work and I'm not convinced that you want to smear your screen all the time. So don't see touch as necessary for a desktop.
