Got an update, i have been using media player classic. and no restarts during video playback, but i have noticed when the pc is left on downloading through steam or left on a web page i will come back and the PC will have restarted, strange, i am waiting to catch it in the act of the restart though, i am hoping it might just be doing it through Microsoft updates, but you usually get a message saying updates where installed but i have no such message and when i re-open mozilla it says there was a problem and the web page recovery screen is showing.
I am convinced the problem (if there is one) is down to software though. Edited by Specle - 21/Aug/2012 at 12:18 |

Update #2 Now when i restart the computer tries to perform a check disk and as it gets to the end it restarts and repeats the check disk on a loop. :(

After about 10 or so attempts it made it through the check disk =/
it is a 2TB seagate HDD. i must have booted up less than 50 times to date. do you think this could be an anomaly or should i report it over the phone in case it turns out to be a fault with the HDD? |

Unlikely, those HDDs are very reliable.
Can you skip check disc to get into windows? |

Well i just tried HDtune, when i tried to run an error scan the pc restarted instantly, this is really disappointing :(
Edit: re tried the scan and is now in progress, but these random inconsistencies are really annoying, it can play bf3 for hours on end, but i open a certain program and it restarts? edit:2 quick scan revealed nothing i can leave it on over night on a full scan if you want? also i had a look round the net for updating the firmware but didn't get anything solid to go by.
