It's here!

Now get the bugger up and running and get it customised...

I'm thinking Lego case, or maybe a Mechano one for industrial look!

Just got Wheezy Pi on it and up and running without problems.

Powered off in the the box again whilst I plan a case, case to include a powered USB hub too since I'll need USB Game Pads for it

When I get underway probably start a worklog

Yeah I saw that on The Register - class!

Mine needs are more simple: 32GB SD Card, & MAME!

Not yet but that's the first thing I looked at!!!

800Mhz with no voltage, increasing voltage sets a permanent bit in the chip so no warranty.

I've got a second one ordered - when that arrives going to jerry-rig a cooler from an old P1 and see what's possible :D

Today's plan, get MAME running

Going to be testing in VirtualBox to make everything works before transposing to the Pi!

Well it works great

I'll get some pics up once I've built a box - anyone know anyone with a 3D printer?

I got a Pi running XMBC as a media player, found playback a bit choppy.

I've bought myself a Pi and a few bits and bobs and have managed to set up an infrared security cam which works nicely with a few simple commands. I'm slowly teaching myself to use Python to run more complicated scripts; it's not too tricky but the enforced indentation takes some getting used to being used to SAS and R. It makes sense and it's good habit-forming as a teaching tool (someone should release a school version that requires a certain level of commenting!). One issue I've had with mine is after a few weeks usually my SD card will corrupt and I have to re-image it. The first few times I had to go through tho whole dance of getting it set up again but after the 3rd I decided to keep backup images that I could just reload. On a 2nd SD card I've run RasPlex and while the UI and loading are a little sluggish compared to Plex on my TV, I've found video playback to be absolutely fine. I'm thinking of sticking one in the garage with a monitor and a treadmill...
