![]() Topic: PC freezes and just wont respond after a whilePosted: 13/Jun/2012 at 08:01 |
|
Happens when I've got a few windows open.
But my PC should handle it because its got an i7 2700k and two 680's in it. When it freezes i cant even put caps lock on, or move the mouse courser and i can leave it for 5hours and it will not come back on. |

What drive are you running your OS on?
If it's the M4 you may need to update the firmware. http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx Edited by Cyber_Tech - 13/Jun/2012 at 11:47 |

After stressing my machine i hit a blue screen -.-
I didnt think cooling would be a problem in this machine since its got a lot of fans, but after i had 5 wow's open and diablo the computer said no. Any ideas on what to do to increase cooling in my system? was thinking of buying a fan and taking the side off a bit to blow cold air into it because my PC is up 24/7 |

Try running Memtest86 overnight, see if it throws up any errors.
Also try limiting your workload to one game instance per actual CPU core -1 |

I dont have an ssd so i cant run it on the M4.
I dont seem to have issues with heating either, since my GPU temps are both under 50 when i have the 5 wow's open on another screen. CPU usage is at around 40% with honorbuddy and my wow's up so its not like im making the machine do a lot of work. It should beable to run 5 wow's seamlessly should it not? will run this memtest and see what happens. |

I'd be sticking to a maximum of one WoW per actual CPU Core (e.g. 4) and possibly disabling HT in BIOS for Multiboxing to stop cache over utilization. How full is the RAM when you run 5 and how are you RAM Cache Faults Per Second (Check in Performance Monitor)?

getting 1 or two hard faults on different things.
Mainly on explorer.exe, i have 1 hard fault. Using 8gb ram with all my applications open aswell so i have 8gb free, and cpu usage is at 30% The hardfault comes and goes too, like i dont have it now but if i check every min or so it will come back. |

If Cache Faults Per Second stay low (they will go up a bit) while stressing the system then it's stable. If they go up over 10000 for sustained periods while the system is stressed then there may be a problem.
How much RAM does each WoW need? |

Each one is different, but they are all around 800,000k memory usage and 03/02 CPU
But i think your tips have fixed it, ive had 5 wow's running and ive had BF3 on for a few hours and my machine hasnt died or cut out, max temps on the GPU was 76 with ultra on everything so i think "touch wood" its fixed. |

Dont know if this will be the cause either.
My PC keeps screens keep flickering saying the display driver has stopped responding. It normally comes back on after 10secs or so, and i do have the latest drivers but its still happening. |

This actually happend with SLI disabled.
I've had to have it disabled because ive not bought an adapter for my monitor yet so i have to use the 2nd GPU slot for my other screen for now. I've had them open for around 10 hours now and they havnt gone off, disabling HP wasnt much use either, just made things worse. I turned HP back on and ive dedicated 4 of them to different CPU's and had the 5th using all and it seems a lot more steady now. no crashes and ill leave it on over night. |

When you get a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) restart your computer and you should get an error pop up when windows starts again. If you click on more information on it and copy it and paste ot here.

Been advised to run Prime95 aswell to stress the system, a friend thinks it might be bad overclocking too.
Will try the new NV driver too and see what happens. |

We use Prime95 as part of our testing so give it a try.
<EventID>41</EventID> Doesn't tell me anything but that the PC shut down unexpectedly. Look for others just before this as they can often help. The driver error you describe could be a problem with the card or memory (settings). As I said earlier, look at Cache Faults Per Second in Performance Monitor. If it routinely goes high then we may need to tweak your OC settings. if it stays low then chances are the OC is fine. Do this while running Prime95. |
