OK I now officially hate IE or more likely IE hates me .. I'm guessing that post is another linked picture that I can't see.

Unfortunately its only for new PCs - an offer operated by Microsoft to ensure that the PC market doesn't slump in the few months running up to the new OS version with people waiting to buy

Its a Microsoft promotion so Microsoft are the ones that make up the rules on this one. You should be able to get a cheap uprade to Win 8 from Win 7 but your not likely to get the £15 offer unless you register/buy your Win 7 after June 2.

Hmm, when 7 launched there was an equivalent offer open to students. I'm hoping that will happen again.

Just saw this on PC-Pro $40 for windows 8 upgrade for any XP, Vista or 7 PC.
UK pricing isn't yet confirmed but I'd guess at £25-30 with current exchange rates. |

More Windows 8 News this time from HUKD.
So it looks like the upgrade offer for XP/Vista/7 is being extended to early adopters. So as it stands Windows 8 Preview is the best free OS out there. If (like me) you are running Windows 8 Preview you can get a cheap £26 upgrade license. That's me putting all my other PCs on 8 Preview over the weekend. I wonder is I can go from Vista 32-Bit to Windows 8 62 Bit without losing all my programs. Might have to clone the HDD first to test. |

Never worked with Vista to 7 so I'm not expecting it to work but don't want to be lumbered with Vista or 32 bit.

Quick question:
Windows 7 here, and about to get the W8 preview, will everything I have currently (files/folders e.t.c stay when I change and will I be able to revert back if needed (without a disk for W7)? |

Yes, it all stays but no going back as far as I can tell.
It's pretty seamless if you use this download "Get it Now": http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/release-preview |

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/upgrade-offer
It's been announced to be available before the end of October. Upgrade from Windows 7 using the upgrade offer is £14.99. No news no upgrading from the preview yet though. |

Still nothing official on the £26 for early adopters.
However, $39.99 confirmed in US so it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world gets confirmed. Edited by Cyber_Tech - 10/Jul/2012 at 15:20 |

Hopefully they'll announce something official soon. Wanna get my missus' laptop upgraded so she can get the cheaper option for WIndows 8, but knowing me, i'll upgrade to the preview, it won't be a cheaper upgrade and i'll be paying for the upgrade because of it lol

I've been using a legit Enterprise copy on my cyberpower machine and it runs even faster than Windows 7 if that is indeed possible. No glitches noticed so far. Apparently I get a WEI of an 8.1 with the graphics being the "weak spot" not sure what you need to get to get a 9? Tri-SLI/Crossfire maybes?

Yes, I noticed that BF3 runs faster and smoother on Windows 8.
As for the WEI we still haven't hit 7.9 on a CPU in Windows 7. What graphics is pulling 8.1? |

You can't upgrade to Windows 8 until the October 26th (Windows 8 release date) but it applies to PCs bought after the 2nd of June. As for the end date, Microsoft may have extended this since the original announcement.

You'll have registered Windows with the time frame, that's all they need.
