Hey guys,
Its almost 2 years on since I bought my cyberpower system, however the unit is running very slow on battlefield 3 and even on the lowest game settings it still runs a bit slow. I am trying to record ingame using fraps while running on lowest specs and that just will not work at all the fps is terrible. Here is the pcs specs from my first post here: https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6569&KW= I have updated the graphics drivers and made sure the nvidia control panel is running in sli, but the actual pc is very slow and I am looking at getting a new alienware comp which is the exact same spec as I am starting to think maybe its a hardware issue? some of my mates are running £600 computers half the spec of mine and it is much smoother ingame then mine. Any ideas? Simon |

A mate had a similar issue with a 975, he turned off Hyper-Threading in BIOS and it fixed it so give that a try.
Also try running on Auto as you really need a GTX580 or AMD 7970 for full Ultra settings as they need a 1.5GB frame buffer. We often have a BF3 game Tuesday evenings, fancy a game later? Sign up to the CPUK Platoon and join in. Edited by Cyber_Tech - 22/May/2012 at 10:03 |

Just saw your edit, I will give auto a try any ideas about the fraps thing to? When filming battleifield 3 lowest spec with fraps on full size 20 fps runs fine, then when I record with fraps on 50 fps its like 5 frames per minute. Its strange thats its only started running slow the past few months it has been an awesome pc up until now

Are you recording with FRAPS to a different drive to the one where BF3 is installed. It usually helps.

Get and SSD, install your OS and BF3 on it and record to the HDD. Best way for recording with FRAPS.

If you were to look at my current specs, what parts would you recommend I get to have my pc running full spec on battlefield 3 at a nice high fps while also being able to record fraps, I imagine a new graphics card and ssd?

Your 480s should be fine with everything but Textures and MSAA set to Ultra, use High and FXAA instead.
In testing I was getting minimums of around 40fps on a GTX580 in single player on 1920x1200, Ultra settings. In multiplayer you can lose 25% performance so that equates to ~30fps which is adequate as a minimum. I'd recommend one 7970 or GTX680 over two GTX580s. But, get the SSD first and worry about graphics after. As Ben in Custom PC said in his leading editorial this month: "the upgrade that will make the biggest difference to your PC is changing from a hard disk to an SSD... Buy an SSD. Seriously." Okay will do, thanks again for the help so its 100% not normal for me to be getting such low fps in low settings using two 480's I am relieved to be honest with you hopefully the hyper threading thing sorts the problem its just annoying having such power but the pc still being so slow
