Hi i forgot to ask a few questions when i made the order just wondered if someone could help.

For starters does the laptop have a recovery system as i have bought the laptop with Windows 7.

Will this baby run BF3 at 1366x768 well.

Is there a way to control the fan as the laptop will be used 24x7 like the one i have got now which is on last legs hence buying new laptop.

Bios updates is the next one. How often is there updates for the BIOS?

Is the Bios a pure BIOS or is it UEFI ?

Would my warranty be voided if i install linux to another drive ?

Hopefully when i get the laptop from CPUK its not going to be a nightmare reading all the bad reviews like doesn't help i know. Most of them are from .com and not .co.uk.

Whats the Tech support line like and build quality of CP Products.

Once i get the laptop i will make a review based on how well its gone or how unwell its gone as well.

1: The laptop comes with a Windows Disc and Driver Discs. I'd recommend using an image based recovery method on an external drive or system once you have all your main apps installed.

2: It'll cope fairly well.

3: If it's not broke...

4: Vanilla BIOS no uEFI

5: No but support wont be much help as we are all allergic to linux

6: Our tech support came 2nd in last year's PCPro awards. We try.

Note: the forums aren't an official support route, but we'll do our best.

Hives, blisters and swelling and possible anaphylactic shock. Well worth avoiding. Now android, I seem to be immune to that strain.

Yes, it's a B3.

?? WTF to the first bit. Thank god its a B3.

Oh i get the first bit Linux, Well Linux is better depending on what you use the OS for. In my case Linux is for Rom making on Android based phones.

One last question hopefully. Turn around is 14 days from order. Just wondering if you could break that down from the time it takes from order to be shippped from USA to UK then from that the rest.

As i am causing high traffic on your website just hitting the tracking order button LOL

Oh so you're the DDOS we've been worrying about all day!

Don't expect any movement for the first week as we have to ship in the bare-bones and parts after that give sales a ring as they usually know how far through the order is.

Got the laptop today, Must say its really good just a few things that is bothering me and its mainly to do with temps.

Is CPU temps ment to be so high as such on just 15% load its hitting 80c which seems really high for a i7 CPU.

I don't know the temp of GPU under load yet but as they share the same fan the question is do i risk it?

I might snarl a little. My Jaw is currently in RMA so I wont bite.

Sorry for the slow reply, I had a long weekend.

Your temps seem a bit high, is the laptop well ventilated?

Thanks for the reply, anyhow i have a review for this laptop.

Review:

So had it now a few days done some game playing on it and i can not fault the power and build quality the only thing i can fault are the following.

Sales Stating that the OS was OEM, With SLIC'd bios which was so say a normal BIOS when infact the OS is a Retail Copy and there is no slic. The bios is UEFI.

Also the builder of the laptop way to much thermal grease on the GPU as the fans was running like a leaf blower, Not only was the GPU Die covered thickly in Grease but the GPU package was also covered. That person needs to know when applying Grease compound that less is more.

Since then i have replaced both the CPU and GPU's thermal paste with IC Diamond i would suggest that if your buying this laptop to get this done.

Temps on CPU have now dropped from 80-90c under slight load to just slightly over 70c on full and idles temps are 38c-42c which is tons better, also Turbo boost stays on 2.8GHZ to 3.1GHZ more often without throttling back.

The GPU now is a healthy 72c under load and idles at 27c.

Overall Cyberpowersystems.co.uk have done well and tech support when it was open was great its just ashame the sales team fell short.

All games i have played are on 1900x1200 Ultra and in MW2 i get a whopping 125fps no drops. BFBC2 i get 80-90FPS. Flight Simulator X i get 100fps and in GuildWars a mega 525fps.

Hope this helps others decide to buy this laptop.

One last thing, The packaging on delivery was great. It was pass the parcel. One big box which a desktop could fit in with two boxes after before getting to the laptop.

Cyber Tech, The laptop is well vented.

Its on square bit of wood with 2 bottle caps to lift the laptop at an angle but it was infact the thermal grease on GPU whicih covered the packaging and the die thickly as well as the Thermal Pad on the CPU that was the issue.

Having a Retail over OEM OS, and a UEFI over regular BIOS are both bonuses right? Although neither should really affect use of the machine.

For starters Retail is worse then OEM for reasons of activation limits. Windows 7 has a activation limit of just ten per serial, OEM has unlimited which is why when i was told it would be OEM i was happy. UEFI and BIOS two different things. BIOS is easy to DSDT patch into a file on linux should there be a buggy firmware UEFI is a pain in the arse at times UEFI also is none SLIC'd.

Correctly so it will not effect the use of the laptop apart from my 2 month BFR (Backup Format Reinstall), this is where Windows 7 HP OEM would of been better 10 activation limit will soon die.

Also to be told one thing and get something different could be clause break of the Miss Sells Of Goods Act, I am not that way inclinde but some one might be.

So if someone asks the same questions i did about the laptop.

BIOS is UEFI and Operating System is RETAIL. its worth a mention.

Also BF3 which i just got today 1900x1080 Ultra rock steady at 60FPS with VSYNC ON!

GPU was 62c CPU was AVG 79c.

Bare in mind them temps are with the CPU in Turbo mode as the CPU Paste has been replaced and the CPU is happy with the temps and its hitting 2.8-2.9GHZ without heat or Leaf blowing!

Thanks for you replies!

How do i put my testimonial on site.

Right i think i owe cyberpowersystems UK an appology.

It seems when i was told that Windows 7 was OEM it was. I used a PID Checker which said retail in return but when i infact checked the Key was infact OEM:NONSLP or proper term OEM_COA_NSLP which is the same as OEM:SLP but requires online activation still and has the same no activation limit like OEM:SLP.

So i hold my hands out and with a can of DUFF, say Sorry for me being a Tool!

The UEFI issue stands but other then that the system is working great. Although i wonder if i'd break warrenty if i want to upgrade the ram from 8GB to 12GB so i can get rid of the pagefile on C:.

As for the testimonial i will be fair in my right up.

Once again sorry for being a dam tool. (Its the first time i have put my hands up as well feel honoured)

I'd recommend 16GB rather than 12GB since this allows you to stick with the benefit of Dual Channel ram.

Don't add RAM, sell what you have and replace it with a new set or you may end up with RAM BSODs.

If you break the RAM slots you'd VOID your warranty, other wise it's fine to upgrade and given that you've re-TIM'd the CPU and GPU I think I can trust you inside a laptop.

Don't sweat it, we all make mistakes occasionally.

Thanks cyber tech, just that i have the same speed ram in my old laptop to which this laptop replaced which are 2 x 2GB DD3 at the same speed, why waste them and 16GB is way to much.

I wouldn't damage any laptop so your trust is well founded on that score. If the person with a laptop can not strip it and rebuild it they don't deserve to have one. Thats how i look at it hence why i know i can stripe this down completely and rebuild it like i have done with all my other laptops in the past the only difference with this one is i will not stripe it as i know i can and that is all i need to know.

Yes we all make mistakes, but thats life.

You can't mix and match RAM so be warned it could lead to random crashes. Same speed or not it needs to be the same type and often the same batch.

Just gently pull it up then it's 5 clips and 3 screws (on the underside of the laptop) to get the keyboard out.

Just a update for everyone, the laptop is running sweet still.
Just doing a format and start again as so i could make a Recovery Partition to sit System Restores should problems arise with Windows Update (That thing that breaks things completelym i do call it something else but its not for the forum)

BF3 running Max Settings with Just AA and Post AA off.
The rest is on Ultra Settings including AF X16 and boy does this laptop still tiddle with its thumbs 50-60FPS odd dip to 40fps.

Fantastic laptop.

Ram wise Upgrade has done well 12GB now in the Laptop running super fast. Next one will be save up for the 2920QM if the TDW is correct and after the warranty has gone.

Only question now it where can i get the Killer Nic Wifi card and which one is the best out of the two on this site.

Can i just buy the one part or do i need to find a estore and get it from there.

Got the Killer N card it is sweet. Next step saving for the new CPU will be a 2820qm as the difference in price is lower then the 2920qm and a nice SSD not sure which SSD though just yet.

Laptop running like a dream still i have to say its a great laptop. I was worrying over nothing.

Temps are now max on CPU at 70c on full load and GPU max load furmark at 60c thanks to IC Diamond thermal paste.

Thanks for the great laptop CyberPower!!!! Next desktop will be from you!
