Los Angeles 1947

"Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood's Golden Age, Cole Phelps is an LAPD detective thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what’s right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core.

Using groundbreaking new animation technology that captures every nuance of an actor's facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire is a violent crime thriller that blends breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience. Search for clues, chase down suspects and interrogate witnesses as you struggle to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide.

Developed by Team Bondi in conjunction with Rockstar Games, L.A. Noire is now available for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360® in North America and arrives May 20th 2011 in Europe."

Review Round up

Do games like L.A. Noire, Heavy Rain, Mafia II and even Metro 2033 signal a more mature approach to story driven 'adventure' games and perhaps a modern day revival of the genre?

Interesting - I hadn't been aware this was coming to PC. Have seen the trailers and am amazed at the lip-synching - makes you realise how this area has been lacking up to now with everyone focussing so much on graphics.

If I get time to play this I certainly will

According to gamershell: If you disregard the side missions and the collectibles, then you can probably plow through the game in between 15 and 20 hours. If you take your time and attempt to 100% the game, then the time will increase a few hours. The cases are very replayable as you probably won't five star each case on your first go.

I'm probably going to pick it up when I see it in a bargain bin.

How long are people finding the game to be? I'm tempted but don't want to waste money on a nother big budget game that lasts 5 hours.....

It's supposed to be coming to the PC, so I'll wait until then.

Just finished Heavy Rain as well. More games like this please.

MOVED It's a PC game again, albeit a port.

I swear the first add I saw for it listed PC alongside 360 and PS3. Never mind, they fixed that omission now.
