![]() Topic: MSI P67A GD80 and GTX 560 Ti FrozrPosted: 07/Feb/2011 at 09:16 |

MSI sent us a sample of their latest high end board. The P67 GD80. Now I know there's been a bit of bad press about the PCH bug and all that but it's still the fastest CPU that mere mortals can buy for gaming PCs.
On opening the box my impressions were good, the board has a similar look and feel to the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe but seems to have better spacing around the CPU so there should be fewer clearance issues for hefty CPU coolers. It also uses new SFF VRM modules so it can pack in more power phases and therefore hot good clocks with lower voltages and heat output. For those who measure the quality of a PC by the number of USB Ports you'll be impressed. 10 USB 3.0 and 10 USB 2.0
For me, that's all just fluff'n'marketting, so I added a 2600K, a large water-cooling kit and a pair of GTX 560 Ti Frozr cards (in keeping with the MSI theme). Will get some OC results up later, I've seen reports of the GD65 getting 5.1GHz and more so I have high hopes. Luke Edited by Cyber_Tech - 07/Feb/2011 at 11:15 |

Test bench set up:
Running furmark to break in the graphics, remarkably quiet for the performance level. Smells really nice too, still not as good as a GTX295 or P8P67 Deluxe though. Luke |

Well, I set it to 5.1GHz, the system boots up fine, shows 5GHz as soon as the CPU is loaded up then drops back to 4.9 or 4.8. Must be taking offence to the PS2 device.
