Hi Luke, Can you please look up my settings for my BIOS as my PC seems to have fallen over big time. My order no. was 66023 and invoice was 20227. The PC never recovered from a mains dip when closing down so I have lost all the Profiles bar the basic one. Please also include instructions for me to see how to reset it. I thank you in anticipation. Teckie (hollow laugh!)

If you're lucky you'll be able to load the OC profile from the tools page in BIOS.
Failing that, download the latest BIOS from support.asus.com and install it. Reboot and turn the FSB up to 400MHz and set the RAM to 800MHz, that should give you 3.6GHz without having to change the voltages. Luke |

What I want is to return my PC to the state it was in, speed wise, when I received it after you had originally overclocked it. I do not want to experiment with it. I have already discussed my problem with Chris and he advised me to deal with you. I will be arriving tomorrow at 1100 with the PC as previously discusse,d for it to be returned to its original speed. Thanks for your attention. Dave.

If you dont have the profile listed under tools then you will need to put in the settings luke has mentioned above.
If you require the PC to come back here for us to do it ill need to authorise a repair for it. I can not accept it without being authorised first. |

I have set the BIOS as you suggested and set the CPU volts to 1.45. and still have a working PC. Can you send me your original settings so I can compare them to what I have now please? I would like to be confident that what I have done will be fully reliable in future. What would you consider the max working core temp to be for my CPU - E8500? I look forward to getting the settings asap. Thank you. Teckie.

Max safe voltage depends on the cooling, resistance goes up with temperature so at lower temperatures you can use higher voltages safely as the current will be lower so degradation due to electromigration (bombardment of the atoms in the copper interconnect by high energy electrons) will happen at a much slower rate. 1.45V is a bit on the high side for basic air cooling.
Ai Tuner: Manual FSB Frequency: 400 CPU Mulitplier: 9.5x (for 3.8GHz if this fails drop to 3.6GHz with 9x FSB Strap: Auto DRAM Frequency: 800 DRAM Timing: Manual DRAM Timings: 5-5-5-15 Command Rate: 2N/T
Static Read Control: Disabled Read Training: Disabled
CPU Voltage: 1.35 (Was 3.125 but probably needs to be higher) FSB Voltage: 1.2 Memory Voltage: 1.9 North Bridge Voltage: 1.3 South Bridge Voltage: 1.5 Luke |
