CyberPowerPC - Unleash The Power

Hi Guys,

I've recently installed 2x2GB Corsair Dominator PC8500 (1066) sticks into my PC but am having trouble with getting the memory to run at the advertised 1066MHZ.  I have the following components mobo and CPU: -

- Mobo: EVGA 780i SLI
- CPU: E6850 overclocked to 3.6Ghz

Now I've been checking the memory in memtest+ and I have been getting errors when I running the sticks at 1066Mhz, however when I drop the speed down to 800MHZ memtest reports no errors.

On the 1066 error runs I have the BIOS confgured to the following: -

- SLI-Ready Memory: Expert
- CPU Freq MHz: 3600
- CPU Mutiplier: 9x
- FSB (QDR), MHz: 1600
- MEM (DDR) MHz: 1066
- Memory Timings:
     - tCL: 5
     - tRCD: 5
     - tRP: 5
     - tRAS: 15
     - CMD: 2T
- Advanced Timings
     - tRRD: 4
     - tRC: 22
     - tWR: 6
     - tWTR: 10
     - tREF: Auto (sets to 7.8uS)
- Voltages
     - CPU Core: 1.425
     - CPU FSB: 1.3
     - Memory: 2.1
     - nForce SPP: 1.40
     - nForce MCP: 1.50
     - HT nForce SPP <-> MCP: 1.20
     - nForce MCP Aux: 1.50

I've doubled checked and everything is set as per recommended memory timings, however I always recieve memtest errors when running at MEM DDR Mhz setting of 1066.  I also tried running the sticks against the CPU set back to 'factory' speeds (FSB 1333), however I still got memTest errors.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? - or am I looking at faulty sticks here?

Ok thanks Mike, will try it when I get home tonight.

Are there any BIOS updates for that board that affect memory stability? I've had similar issues before with early BIOS versions, which have disappeared after flashing a later one.

P06 should have no issues with 1066 RAM. I think we're up to P08 now though.

Hi Guys,

I was in process of organising a RMA when I decided to test each stick speratly @1066, both passed memtest.

I then checked each Dimm slot with one stick ~1066 and again no memtest errors.

However when I but both sticks in dual mode at 1066 I again memtest errors.

I'm just wondering if since each stick seems to individually work @ 1066 whether the issue may be with the mainboard itself?

Another thing I would like a pointer on, is there any benifit in running FSB:DRAM at 1:1? - or doesn't it really matter?  If 1:1 is desrible should I just consider running the sticks at a slower Frequency to achieve the 1:1?
