Certainly dont feel my age so perhaps 40 is the new 30 as you say. Just hoping there is some bu**er here older than me.
Do find it interesting though that PC gamers to tend to be a bit older. |

Hell my age in binary looks like an ad for directory enquiries. Did you know though, there are only 10 types of people who understand binary, those who do and those who dont. (sorry for the old joke). Like you zoot, I used to have a six pack, but now I've got a barrel.

Well guys, those of us 101000 and over are clearly the first generation to get into computer games. That's why we are still at it. Manic Miner, anyone?
There are lots of upsides
- late nights / hangovers - you just can't bounce back like you used to. Specially on "school" nights!
- eyesight - I've worn specs for shortsight for years now but now I need to take them off to read, or when I get up close to the screen. Doh!
I'm hoping my age and experience will give me the skills for strategy and diplomacy for the next TOTAL WAR.... if I have the energy!

You think Starcraft will suit a TOTAL WAR fan? I'm eager to try... Perhaps I've been spending too much time on GTA IV on my PS3... It's about time I got up to date with the best RTS's |

Go and buy Starcraft and Brood war, £5 in the budget section somewhere. Best RTS of all time, no argument. It's virtually Korea's national sport!
SC2 looks awesome as well. I think anyone into RTS will like it. Have you played Mark Of Chaos? That'd be right up your street I reckon. Mike |

Licenced (or Mike?)
I think you are referring to laser eye surgery - I actually went for an assessment, but they said I would need reading glasses straight away. Not the best result for spending £3k.
Thanks for the reccomends - you've given me a few game ideas here
I can see I'm going to have to book myself some extra gaming time! (getting more organised - or being organised by your better half - another 40+ trait!)

That takes me back. Wouldn't that make a great game, MMO or solo, with DX10 graphics. Ian Bell and David Braben, are you there.

Phew. Tapes. I remember "Doomdark's Revenge" for the Spectrum. Played that for ages. I think half the time was spent trying to load it via my wonky tape player - about 5 minutes of computer schreeching noises followed by, 6 times out of 10, a failure to load.
Talk about long loading times...

Hero Quest. If you're talking about loading times, there's your prime target. 30 mins or something stupid, and that failed 4-5/10

EVE is a monumental game. Has the steepest learning curve of any mmo which makes it hellish at times. Shame it takes about a year of play before the game even starts to get exciting but once you get going god is it fun.

The 40's take the lead- like most of you the ZX81 hooked me all those years ago.
Replacing the membrane under the keyboard anyone? I agree with you Ming, late nights on GTAIV (ie 3-4am), means being woken up by the kids at 8am and feeling like a grouchy old man all day- which I apparently am (dont see it myself!! )But as you say older means you can indulge your PC dreams with a monster machine from Cyberpower. |

Heheheh - you know what they say: "youth is wasted on the young" ![]() Babysnakes - at least if you're gaming then you're not drinking! Er, not usually ![]() A late night session still has its own kind of hangover, though! I think I need to get some endurance training in before my new pc arrives... or maybe store up on some sleep! |

Nvidia have, well a GPU anyway, but Licenced tells me its not that much faster than my ATI 4870 x 2 .... So if you want a battle on Total War...... please don't interfere with my suppression of the US revolution (no independence there, thankyou) and the Frenchies will be put down!

It's not a new GPU - its two of the old ones, slapped together in a box and down-clocked a little to stop them overheating

I've just stumbled on this topic. My Zimmer frame slipped - my God! I didn't realise there were so many children about. Its disgraceful!
God got it wrong with his three score years and ten and I can't wait to tell him!
As for the ZX81 - I invented a cable connection to stop the memory brick wobbling and losing everthing but I still learned to BASIC program which started me off.
