Hey Cp :waves:

I think it's time i got away from these tinny laptop speakers and Ipod ear phones and bought some new gear . I've been looking at some cheap Sennheiser headphone >£20 which look pretty awesome for their price.

I was wondering if anyone could spec me some headphones or speakers for under £30 ? I normally listen to some classic rock and blues so i'm looking for something that would suit these genres Smile Also been looking at making a headphone amp aswell for something to do TongueLOL

Thanks

Sounds like a project I remember!

This is the project, make your own headphone amp! costs less than £20 to build

http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/

Buy the parts from Maplin or whatever your local electronics store is.

As for heedfurnz, well at £30 these are probably the ones I'd recommend:

Sennhesiers, great frequency response on them. Bargain for under £30

Hehe,

Yep that's the site i was looking at , but i'll need some decent headphones to power first. In my opinion Maplin rips you off , i was gonna buy the stuff online at http://www.rs-components.com/ or somewhere similar :) (if the link is a competitor please remove it :P)

About the headphones , are there any which are not "in-ear" that give equal or better sound ? I don't really like in-ear LOL but if they're better than the equivalent "on-ear" headphones then i might give them ago Wink.

Thanks Sleepy

They're a bit cheaper. There are the on-ear versions at Chemical as well if you prefer those for about £5 more.

Yeah use RS would be fine! Nice little project too I'll see if I can find mine it's in a box somewhere now from the last house move

£5 isn't much more :P

I'm unsure whether to build a pc (sorry but it'll be fun , cheaper and i'll learn aswell Embarrassed) or just wait a little while and have some little "projects" Tongue.
Do you reckon computer component prices will continue rising ?

Looking forward to seeing you amp Thumbs%20Up I hope eventually i'll be able to build a speaker amp with tubes instead of chips :P ... without killing myself aswell LOL

Components change value all the time, with the international money markets. Pain in the ass. For the foreseeable future I think there'll be a steady rise until late next year probably.

Q6600
4gb ram
320gb hd (to start will buy another later maybe)
4850 , maybe , could stretch to a 4870
Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45
TRUE 120 cooler ( i think that's it name )
Dvd drive
Vista Home premium
Antec 300
630w Hiper Psu

I heard the board was a good Oc'er , i was hoping to get atleast 3ghz from the 6600 , would normal ram be alright ? or should i spend a bit more ? Also i've heard that Hiper psu's are a bit noisy and dodgy , is that true ?

Thanks :)

Have a look in the AMD section.

Demeber 20th I believe. It's looking very fast and will be a lot cheaper than an Intel i7 rig and probably faster

No expensive boards like the i7 ? And the usual Amd socket aswell ? But still just as fast :P

Cool , sounds like the wait will be worth it. Wink
Will keep an eye on the AMD sub-forum.

Oki doke ... Been looking around again and i've found these to be the best bang for buck :

Beyerdynamic DTX800:
http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=12

Sennheiser HD 215:
http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/7908

or alot cheaper , but they have a nice range :

Any other suggestions are welcome please .

Thankyou Tongue

I don't think any bargain could beat those sennheisers on amazon:

Sennheiser HD201 Headphones

I've tripped over and dropped these wonders and they're still going strong.

Have sometimes noticed some going cheap on here, but they come and go.

@NotSherlock: They look good for the money but how's the sound quality?

Pretty decent win the treble and clarity, but perhaps lacking ever soslightly in the bass end. Pretty good none the less!! I picked these bad boys up with a deal in London

For gaming I'm spoiled for choice. I have a set of ASUS Vulcan's, a 7.1 Denon AV box with a mix of B&O and Kenwood and Yamaha speakers. Another one runs through a Pure Avanti Flow. Life's to short for built in tinny speakers.

Love the Vulcan, tend to use it more than anything else, but you really can't hear much else when you switch the noise cancelling on.
