What it says.

We want to know what you are playing. FPS your thing? Or more chilled MMORPG?

Personally I'm a FPS junkie (Frames per second & 1st person shooter before anyone asks Wink) but what do you all prefer?

Looking like FPS is the winner so far!

What are your favourites then? I'm still a Quake man myself (still play Quake 3 occasionally, although more Quake 4 now) although I do like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., very atmospheric and  quite challenging as well

Well I'm not really big on PC shooters right now (my current system sucks real bad).
But I've always liked the Battlefield series, so I'll probably get BF2 and BF 2142.

Crysis should be awesome like. Have you seen the preview in PC Gamer this month (i think you can get it online at their site too) looks brillaint. The game engine looks like it's entirely set up for the mod scene as well which is a plus!

Yes Mike it looks great. I also downloaded the side by side screen shots showing real photographs and DX10 shots. The difference is minimal. Cant wait.

Even better Cevat Yerli (Crytek CEO) stated two gigs of ram, 8800 GTS and a Core 2 Duo E6600 will run Crysis on Ultra High settings. Even! more cool is the statement that technology will take another 18 months after Crysis is released to catch up with the graphical features it has. This will keep Crysis current and "will be the best looking game for the next three years", gravy on gravy! Big%20smile

(I'm probably only jealous 'cos I haven't sampled Dark Crusade Smile)

(edit) I've just realised that I'm also jealous because I could never afford the minatures. And everyone laughed at my crappy painting. I've not really been able to face a GW game since....

I do still have the board game of Advanced Space Crusade somewhere.

If ever there was a game with too many fiddly bits to lose, that's the one.  I played it once and was finding plastic arms and guns buried in the carpet for about a week afterwards...

The original HeroQuest was a good board game though. And GW's finest hour was The Fury of Dracula - which cost me £10 at the time and now goes for about £100 on eBay. If I still had it then it would be converted into a new soundcard quicker than you can say ... er .... Broadside Battlesuits >All.

LOL

Talisman was my favourite board game that GW produced, good game to play.

And I know what you mean about the Advanced versions of the games, I still to this day come accross the odd bit in boxes from time to time

I grew up with GW in New Zealand, the figures ad all that.
I must agree that Talisman was one of the best board games GW ever made, I even had the Dungeons expansion set as well as some additional characters from a White Dwarf magazine, the GW monthly mag.
Personally my favorite GW game was Space Hulk, magnificent, and a close second was Blood Bowl. Orcs and trolls playing sports, what a great concept!

Have you ever played a PC Game called Chaos League? It's basically Blood Bowl although quite hard to control, worth it in the end though. Cyanide, the producers, have just got the license from Games Workshop to produce official Blood Bowl games too!

Heh, I grew up with Games Workshop stuff as well; was heavily into wargaming and miniature painting/collecting at one point. I tend to only play roleplaying games myself, with a few RTS titles thrown in there now and then.

Mike, that game sounds like fun -- Blood Bowl was a great concept.

Warhammer Mark Of Chaos is an awesome game. Bloody hard later on but a great game. Reminds me of Shadow of the Horned Rat which was also great all those years ago.

It's basically Action/Adventures for me, the more immersive the better.  Hence me looking forward to playing Bioshock in 2 weeks.  Favourites are :- Outcast, Nomad Soul, System Shock 2, Ultima 9 (yes, 9), Anachronox, KOTOR with the undoubted King of this particular genre being the peerless Deus Ex.  Can't bloody wait for Bioshock, it's been years since i've played a classic!

Good old lan days of Network Q RAC Rally & obviously quake 1 & 2, not forgetting herritic & turning people into chickens.  Networking then wasnt nice as it was BNC & very slow. (BNC+T piece & terminator FTW)

Games I play now CS, CSS & some cz when possible, but mainly cs as I find it hard to get into a game & stay there but who knows what Quakewars ET & UT3 will be like :D we'l find out soon.  for now though scoutzknivez on a jolt server is where I'm heading.  BTW just had a mess with Re-volt & RAC Rally, my god revolis good but rac rally is nasty but fast.

Kev!
