Putting 2x4GB in and then 2x4GB of the same make & type will *probably* work assuming you have 4 slots on the mobo but as CT said, even this *can* fail. I don't know what the failure rate is like though, I've done it once, doubling my RAM using a (presumably) separate batch about a year later and it worked fine. What to do in your situation really depends on how much money you have to play with, and the cost/benefit of various options. I personally have gone with 16GB (8GBx2) in my build with the intention of adding another set of the same in a year or so, understanding that doing so is a bit of a roll of the dice.]]>
